As a child of the 90s poor representation is not hard to come by especially in the fantasy genre. Oceanstars is not only where I can’t be boxed in by the projections of a delusional society, it’s a place to be visible without being exploited. A story where I can be any flavor of personality as Black kid and still find acceptance, safety, and love amongst a chosen family.
